Sol Mirror

For hundreds of years, Native people throughout the Americas used the plants and grasses from their environment to make baskets for carrying food or wood, storing possessions, and giving as gifts. Basket designs are as varied as the plants, trees and grasses used to make them. The basket collection at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture served as inspiration for our Sol Mirror. The Sol Mirror from the Crossroads Collection is made of woven water hyacinth around a metal frame, its round shape reminiscent of the sun (meaning of Sol in Spanish).
